On Tuesday, October 21st, Mayor LaSota at the Council Meeting, presented retired Heidelberg Police Chief James B. McIntyre with a proclamation recognizing Jim’s 37 years of service to the Borough and dedicated the Police Evidence Room in his name. Below is the Proclamation highlights: BOROUGH OF HEIDELBERG MAYORAL PROCLAMATION A PROCLAMATION OF THE MAYOR OF THE BOROUGH OF HEIDELBERG, ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, RECOGNIZING JAMES B. MCINTYRE, FORMER CHIEF OF THE HEIDELBERG POLICE DEPARTMENT, FOR HIS DECADES OF SERVICE AND NAMING OF THE POLICE EVIDENCE ROOM IN HIS HONOR WHEREAS, James B. McIntyre is a life-long resident of the Borough of Heidelberg and as a Heidelbergundian he has tirelessly, consistently and unabashedly worked for the advancement and betterment of the Borough in many, many ways, and; WHEREAS, among his many contributions would include: serving in the US Army; serving as a volunteer within the Heidelberg Volunteer Fire Department; serving as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the Borough of Heidelberg; serving as an elected Constable for the Borough of Heidelberg; and as a long-time resident of Grant Avenue, consistently acting as a good neighbor to all and helping any in need. HOWEVER, it is among Jim’s many contributions to the Heidelberg Police Department that his stature within the lore and legend of Heidelberg rises to stratospheric heights not reached by any before or since. SPECIFICALLY, during a career that spanned 37 years, Jim served as a Patrolman from 1968 to 1977, and as Chief from 1977 to 2005, and became a fixture within the Borough patrolling her streets, enforcing her laws, helping in times of need, and keeping all safe and sound, and; WHEREAS, because of Jim’s nearly four decades of honorable, professional and dedicated service to the Heidelberg Police Department and the citizens of Heidelberg, Jim’s contributions are cause for remembrance and recognition. THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that on behalf of a grateful citizenry, and an appreciative Borough Council, I do hereby declare that James B. McIntryre contributed greatly to the Heidelberg Police Department during his 37 year tenure, and that as a testimony to his decades of service, the Evidence Room within the Heidelberg Police Station shall be named after him as a tribute to his service and that a plaque shall be mounted therein stating the same.
