August 27, 2014 - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Streetscape Project.
TRI-COMMUNITY REVITILIZATION PROJECT – an approximate 2.4 million dollar Multi-Municipal Streetscape Project between the Boroughs of Carnegie, Heidelberg and the Township of Scott, sponsored by US Congressman Tim Murphy, improving East Railroad Street (PA Route 50 - Heidelberg), Carothers Avenue (Scott Township) and Third Street (Carnegie). Construction by A. Liberoni, Inc., designed by Trans Associates and Glance Associates, inspection services by CDM Smith, funded by the US Department of Transportation, PENNDOT, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Allegheny County and the three communities.
“It has been a nine year odyssey, but after much work by three dedicated communities, the vision of Congressman Tim Murphy to revitalize the Route 50 corridor in Heidelberg, Carnegie and Scott is complete. We now have a new pedestrian friendly, urban boulevard that connects the business districts of our three towns. This project is truly a transformational event for the three communities and the entire south hills area,” stated Heidelberg Mayor Ken LaSota.
